No school March 20 and no extracurricular activities March 21 and 22 due to STF job action
On Monday, March 18, 2024, the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) announced job action for March 20, 21 and 22. In letters to the division, the STF outlined the following teacher sanctions:
- Teachers will totally withdraw services for a one-day strike on Wednesday, March 20, 2024; and
- Teachers will withdraw all extracurricular activities for two days on March 21 and 22, 2024.
On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, classes, extracurricular activities, and all other school-planned events will be cancelled at all GSCS schools. Please do not send your children to school on this date. Bus and transportation services, including taxis, will also be cancelled for this date. Before and after school programs will not operate on this date but childcare centers will.
On Thursday, March 21 and Friday, March 22, all scheduled extracurricular activities are cancelled. There are no changes to class or transportation schedules. Before and after school programs will run as regularly scheduled.
Regular classes and extracurricular activities are expected to resume on Monday, March 25, 2024.
We respect the bargaining process and STF’s right to take job action. Our primary focus will remain offering high-quality Catholic education in a safe and secure school environment for students.
If STF’s plans change, we will provide updates via direct communication through Edsby and/or School Bundle messenger (emails from noreply-gscs@schoolbundle.ca, listed as Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, or text or voice messages from 1-306-400-6811), updates on our website (www.gscs.ca), and on our Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) accounts.
If you have specific questions about school operations, please contact your school principal.
Sincerely,
François Rivard,
Director of Education
