Jim Carriere: 1952 – 2022

With sadness, and hope in the resurrection, our Catholic schools community mourns the loss of long-time Board of Education trustee Jim Carriere, who passed away suddenly April 4, 2022.
Jim was first elected to the Board of Education in 1997. During his 25 years as trustee, he served as board chair from 1998 – 2007 and 2003 – 2007. During his time as a trustee, Jim represented the board in various ways, including the Central Urban Métis Federation Inc. and Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools’ Educational Alliance and Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools Foundation’s board of directors.
In his professional life, Jim worked at SaskTel for 35 years, beginning his career with the Crown corporation after graduating from Holy Cross High School. After retirement, he turned his side-job into a full-time business doing home renovations.
Jim is survived by Susan, his wife of 48 years; children Jamie (Dwayne) Henry, Rebecca (Tony) Epple, Michael (Candace) Carriere, and Mark Carriere (Jody Husulak); and four grandchildren.
“Jim was a dear friend and colleague,” commented Diane Boyko, Board of Education Chair. “His voice of reason and his ability to ask the difficult questions around the board table will be missed just as much as his passion for Catholic education and the families he felt privileged to serve.”

May all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
