MaraFun 2.2km Wrap Up Run

To end our MaraFun Club season, we will have a 2.2km Wrap Up Race/Run on Tuesday, June 6th from 12-12:30pm for all students who participated in our MaraFun Club this year. Our goal is to run outside if the weather cooperates. Otherwise, we will do our best in the gym. Parents are welcome to join us, as well as students who didn't participate in the club this time around. We encourage everyone to challenge themselves to this fun 2.2km run.  

Communication - March 20, 2023

Dear parents and guardians,

Welcome to the first week of MaraFun! We had a meeting today at the last recess to go over some details with the students. Our practices will be on Thursdays and lunch recess and Fridays at lunch recess, but we may change these dates once the basketball season ends.

For practices, students should make sure they have a good pair of indoor running shoes and a water bottle. Some students may wish to bring a change of clothes to change in and out of for practices.

We have started a MaraFun Edsby group to help keep track of announcements, important documents, and weekly training schedules.The group is open so that anyone at the school (student/family/staff) who clicks on the group can see the posts. For this reason, we will not be accepting requests to join the group. To find the information, go to your Edsby page, look for the section on groups, and select “More groups.” You should be able to scroll through and select the MaraFun page so that you can view the group’s posts. 

If you are planning on registering your child or your family for the official MaraFun program, check out the photo below with a list of important deadlines. You can find more information and the link for how to register in the school letter that was sent home with students and posted in Edsby.

Dear parents and guardians,

This year, École St. Paul School is creating a MaraFun team!
Sign up your child(ren) by filling out the bottom portion of the attached form and having your child(ren) hand it in to Mme Kmiech (Gr7/8 teacher) or to the front office by March 10, 2023. 
 
What is MaraFun?
MaraFun is a program held in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Marathon that gives students aged 5-13 the opportunity to run a marathon distance (42.2 km) over the course of a 6 or 10 week training program.
 
When is it?
École St. Paul will be participating in the 10 week program, which starts on March 20, 2023. We will begin to meet 2-3 times a week during lunch recess, we will aim to cover about 4 kms every week, and then we will complete a 2.2 km race to finish our season. We will let you know the days and times of these activities when we get closer to the start of our program!
 
How much does it cost?
Depending on how you want to participate, you have two main options:
● For free, your child can complete the MaraFun program at school by coming to our practices and
without signing up for the official event, or
● For a cost of $20-$30, you can register your child for the MaraFun program. For this cost, you can take them to run in the live event (2.2 km) on Sunday, May 28, 2023, and they will receive a race swag package including a finishers medal.
● It is also possible to register your family for the event.
● Please note that the event requires you to sign certain waivers in order for your child/family to participate.
