General Notices 

** A reminder for students to use the crosswalks on Taylor when crossing the street for safety reasons. Thank you for your cooperation!

 

** An important reminder to not leave valuables in your car or unattended in the school.

 

** An important reminder to be respectful when parking in our community and neighborhood. Please do not block driveways, do not litter and drive carefully.

 

** Please help stack chairs in groups of 4 at the end of the lunch hour in the commons. Thanks for your help.

 

** Reminder that the commons area is closed during Period 4 for cleaning.

 

** Please refrain from bringing water guns, goggles and arm floaties in the school.

 

**A reminder that there should not be any food delivery (Skip the Dishes, Uber Eats, etc) to students at the school. 

 

** SCENT FREE SCHOOL – A reminder that we have staff and students who are allergic to scents, so please do not wear strong scents to school.


** If you are going to be absent during final assessment week (June 18-25), please make arrangements with the principal at the main office as soon as possible.

 

* Library News

The library will be closed period 2, 3 & over lunch Friday June 13th. Sorry for any inconvenience this will cause.

 

Attention Band Students

Band students who have their own instruments are asked to please take them home from the music department as soon as possible. Students who have GSCS instruments must leave their instruments in the instrument storage space.

* Specialized Schedules for Next Year

If you are a student who will be away for a semester (or more) next year — for example, due to commitments like hockey, football, or other activities — please book an appointment with your Counsellor at Student Services. It’s important to start planning now to give yourself the best chance of getting the classes you want in your schedule.


* Attention French Immersion students!

Youth Alliance

This week is Pride Week at Holy Cross!

We will still be celebrating the month of June with a week of devotions from staff and students, and the following events:

 

Tuesday - YAC Open House 

On Tuesday, wear your most colourful outfits to school and feel free to swing by room 361 to find out what the Youth Alliance is all about.

 

Wednesday - Name That Tune

On Wednesday we'd love to see everyone in Tie Dye, and we'll all tune in for Name That Tune in period 3. Good Luck!

 

Thursday - Bake Sale

To go along with our Staff vs. Seniors Softball Game, the Youth Alliance will be selling homemade treats and candy bags! 

 

Friday - Arts and Crafts @ Noon

Come by room 361 to make yourself a pin or a bracelet using supplies provided by the Youth Alliance!


Smudging

Everyone is welcome to come to the courtyard to take part in smudging at 8:15 am on Tuesdays and Fridays all year.


Homework Hall Tutorial 

Would you like help from a teacher with your homework in a quiet space? Homework Hall tutorial time takes place each lunch hour in Room 341 (Mr. Heath's room). All students are welcome to attend!


FREE TUTORING at Holy Cross through Youth Study Group! – THURSDAYS – LAST DAY is JUNE 12th

Need some tutoring & homework help?  

Tutors from the University of Saskatchewan, and Advance courses and IB programmers from High Schools will be joining us at Holy Cross on regular Thursdays after school.   Come and get help with your homework and/or studying in all subject areas.

Sessions are from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. in the library. 


Cafeteria

The following items will be available daily at the cafeteria: 

Burgers, sandwiches, subs, wraps, baking and various snacks.

2026 Japan Exchange – MEETING TONIGHT

Have you dreamed of travelling to Japan? Do you think it would be fun to host Japanese students in your home and show them around your city? Here is your chance! Bring your parent/ guardian/caregiver to the information meeting in the St. Joseph High School theatre on Tuesday, June 10 at 7:00 pm.  Application and information forms are available from Mrs. Rodych in the Home Ec. lab. Applications will be accepted until June 13, 2025.

Graduation

Grade 12 Grad Rehearsal - Friday, June 20th at 12:30 in the theatre for all Grade 12s participating in graduation ceremony. All graduated are expected to attend.

 

** Cap and Gown photos and names will be running on a loop during the Graduation Banquet.  Please let the committee know if you do not wish your name or photo be included.  Contact the chair at deanemartin@yahoo.com and she will have your name and photo removed.


AFTER GRAD TICKETS 

(Casino, giant outdoor games, dance, snacks) will go on sale @Holy Cross at NOON HOUR - JUNE 9th-12th.  4 days only ($25-$30 pending on sponsorship)

Clubs


Grade 9 Guidance Club

CALLING ALL GRADE 9S! If you’re interested in participating in fun activities, connecting with others, and building valuable skills then the Grade 9 Guidance Club is for you. So, please come down to the ROOM 116 TOMORROW – for the last club activity.  You are also invited on Thursday June 12th at noon to participate in our potluck lunch.


Beading Club

Holy Cross’ beading club is back! Swing by room 120 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at lunch to learn how and to complete different beading projects. This club is open to staff and students of all cultural backgrounds. See Ms. Climenhaga for more details.


Knitting Club 

The knitting and stitching club will be meeting in room 111 on Fridays at noon. See you there!


Holy Cross Youth Alliance

Our 2SLGBTQ+ Alliance Group meets every Thursday lunch hour in room 361. All students and staff are welcome to join us! 


Faith and Science 

We meet Wednesdays at lunch.  The focus of our discussions will be the relationship between faith and physics.  It should be fun.  Come check it out in room 249 (Mr. Cratty's room) There will be a video followed by discussion.


Holy Cross Chess & Games Club 

If you would like to learn how to play chess, you can come to room 333 during the lunch hours. We meet every lunch hour. Games club runs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in room 122.


Rosary Group

Our group meets on Mondays. Please meet in room 136 right after school for some fun and fellowship making rosaries.  We have all the supplies and instructions that you will need.  You can count these hours for your CAP. See you there.  Any questions, see Mrs. Dale. 

 

Volunteer Opportunities


VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY 

Are you looking for a way to make a positive impact in Ukraine? We invite you to volunteer with Ukrainian Patriot, a charity dedicated to raising funds and providing essential support for the people impacted by the war and the defenders. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available for all ages and can also fulfill your CAP hours. From helping at our booths at events, to working/planning behind the scenes, there are many ways to pitch in. We have feet on the ground in Ukraine, and the work we do here directly makes an impact where it’s needed there. Together, we can make a real difference for those on the frontlines of Ukraine.

Summer School Registration is Open! - Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools (GSCS)

Go to https://www.gscs.ca/cyb/page/2295/summer-school for complete information and to register. This link will take you to information for both in-person and on-line summer courses offered by GSCS.

In-person summer school will take place from July 2nd to July 25th inclusive and the cost is $150 per student. The courses offered are English A30, English B30, Career and Work Exploration 10, 20, and 30. Classes will take place at Bethlehem Catholic High School. If you have any questions regarding the Bethlehem Summer School, please contact Meghan Jones at MJones@gscs.ca or at 306-659-7700.

On-line courses run from Wednesday, July 2nd to 11:00 PM on Friday, August 22nd, 2025, courses cost $450. New Scholarship for Grade 12 Graduating Students

The Canadian Forces Family Scholarship from the Bridge City SaskTel Pioneers is for a student that is in Grade 12 and in good academic standing. The student must be a child or dependent of a current or former serving member of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). Student must provide proof of parent or guardian’s service in the CAF such as a copy of a Military Service Identification Card, a Veteran’s Service Card, or a Certificate of Service. Student must demonstrate good character and involvement or support in the school or community as recognized or recommended by SPSD/GSCS teachers and staff. Conexus Credit Union Youth Leadership Awards

School Nurse – Last Day is June 16th

Our school nurse, Jenna Braaton will be here Monday afternoons from 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm. The school nurse can help you with the following:

  • Confidential one-on-one student supports with medical & health related matters.
  • Referrals to other community agencies/supports.
  • General first-aid
  • Confidential pregnancy testing and other supports as needed.

Students can also text the school nurse at 639-471-8202. Look for the school nurse sign in the hallway and stop in to ask a question, book an appointment or to just say hello!
