General Notices 

** An important reminder to be respectful when parking in our community and neighborhood. Please do not block driveways, do not litter and drive carefully.

 

** Please help stack chairs in groups of 4 at the end of the lunch hour in the commons. Thanks for your help.


** Reminder that the commons area is closed during Period 4 for cleaning.


* Deadline to drop a class.

Monday, June 2nd is the last day to drop a class. Please see Student Services for the form.


* Attention all French Immersion Students

If you are interested in helping to create our work of art to mark our identity and community in the school, please come see Mme. Chateigner in room 111.  Apportez vos amis!


* Red Dress Day

We encourage all students and staff to wear red on Monday May 5 to raise awareness about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Woman and Girls.

* Service Hours Opportunity

Holy Spirit Parish will be having their AGM on Sunday, May 4th from 12-1pm.  It begins with a pancake breakfast and then moves into the meeting. They need helpers for two parts: 1. helping with serving/cleaning for the breakfast and 2. with childcare during the AGM. If you are interested in getting some hours at Holy Spirit, please contact Mrs. Dale ASAP for more details. 


Smudging

Everyone is welcome to come to the courtyard to take part in smudging at 8:15 am on Tuesdays and Fridays all year.


Homework Hall Tutorial 

Would you like help from a teacher with your homework in a quiet space? Homework Hall tutorial time takes place each lunch hour in Room 341 (Mr. Heath's room). All students are welcome to attend!


FREE TUTORING at Holy Cross through Youth Study Group! - THURSDAYS

Need some tutoring & homework help?  

Tutors from the University of Saskatchewan, and Advance courses and IB programmers from High Schools will be joining us at Holy Cross on regular Thursdays after school.   Come and get help with your homework and/or studying in all subject areas.

Sessions are from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. in the library. 

 

SRC


Multicultural Week

We are excited to announce that our school will be celebrating Multicultural Week from April 28th to May 2nd! This is a special time where we recognize, appreciate, and celebrate the many cultures that make up our school community. This week includes trivia activities, games, days to show off beautiful clothing, and the highlight of the week, our Food Festival. All these events serve to demonstrate the diversity among our students and families of Holy Cross!

Thursday – Food Festival

On Thursday, our annual food festival is back after a year off due to sanctions! Stay tuned after break for more information on how to get your hands on amazing dishes prepared by our students and families at Holy Cross!

Friday – Games Day

On Friday we will be featuring interesting games played in different places! Check the notices ahead of time to see what we are up to!


2025-2026 Holy Cross SRC

Congratulations to Emmanuella A., Jayne N., Eugenia O. and Ijay U. who are running for Co-President of the SRC for next school year. Video speeches will take place in period 3 on May 12th and voting will occur on May 13th, also in period 3. Best of luck to all our candidates. 

 

Applications for positions on the 2025-2026 Holy Cross SRC will open on May 5th. Those students in grade 9, 10 or 11 this year, who are returning to Holy Cross, with leadership skills, enthusiasm and creativity are encouraged to apply for a position on the SRC. We have many roles to fill from Pep Rally Co-Ordinator to Social Media Co-Ordinator to Technical Directors as assistants. We also welcome those who wish to be a part of our volunteer pool, the Crusader Crew. Videos explaining all roles will be shown in homeroom classes on May 6th and 7th. The application form will be an online form that will be accessible by a QR code starting on Monday May 5th. Applications will be due 3:30pm on May 15th. If you have any questions about SRC, our roles and/or the application process please see Mrs. Buzinski in room 381 for more details. 

 

Cafeteria

The following items will be available daily at the cafeteria: 

Burgers, sandwiches, subs, wraps, baking and various snacks.

 Graduation

 

Grad list has been posted on the noticeboard outside Student Services.

All grads are asked to review their names and ensure they are spelled correctly as that is what will show on your certificate.

 

Come to the office and see Ms. Okemwa if any of the following applies to you:

  • If your name is highlighted
  • For name corrections or updates
  • If your name is not on the list

This is your LAST DAY to review the grad list.


* Grade 12 Honour Roll

An important reminder to Grade 12 students that the Grade 12 honour roll will be calculated on Monday June 2 (no extensions). Grade 12 teachers will determine their deadlines prior to this date to have assessments and assignments included in this mark. 

 

Music

There is a FULL CHOIR practice TODAY at lunch.

 

Clubs


* Book Club

We will meet Friday, May 2nd at noon in room 102. We will discuss this month’s selections and choose new selections for May. See you all there! By the way, don’t forget your refillable cup for hot chocolate or tea.

 

* ASL Club

ASL Club resumes this Friday – check the Edsby group for important information and to vote on the new poll.

 

Robot Rumble

Robot Rumble participants will meet in room 321 at lunch on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

 

Beading Club

Holy Cross’ beading club is back! Swing by room 120 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at lunch to learn how and to complete different beading projects. This club is open to staff and students of all cultural backgrounds. See Ms. Climenhaga for more details.


Knitting Club 

The knitting and stitching club will be meeting in room 111 on Fridays at noon. See you there!


Holy Cross Youth Alliance

Our 2SLGBTQ+ Alliance Group meets every Thursday lunch hour in room 361. All students and staff are welcome to join us! 


Faith and Science – No meeting TODAY

We meet Wednesdays at lunch.  The focus of our discussions will be the relationship between faith and physics.  It should be fun.  Come check it out in room 249 (Mr. Cratty's room)!  There will be a video followed by discussion.


Holy Cross Chess & Games Club 

If you would like to learn how to play chess, you can come to room 333 during the lunch hours. We meet every lunch hour. Games club runs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in room 122.


Rosary Group

Our group meets on Mondays. Please meet in room 136 right after school for some fun and fellowship making rosaries.  We have all the supplies and instructions that you will need.  You can count these hours for your CAP. See you there.  Any questions, see Mrs. Dale. 

 

Athletics

 

Track practices this week will be on Thursday May 1st at 7pm-8pm at the Saskatoon Fieldhouse. 

 

TWILIGHT MEET SIGN-UP

To sign up for the twilight meets you must: 

  1. Register through SSSAD and be on TeamLinkt.
  2. Fill out the google form from TeamLinkt.

This must be done by Thursday, May 1st.

Summer School Registration is Open! - Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools (GSCS)

Go to https://www.gscs.ca/cyb/page/2295/summer-school for complete information and to register. This link will take you to information for both in-person and on-line summer courses offered by GSCS.

In-person summer school will take place from July 2nd to July 25th inclusive and the cost is $150 per student. The courses offered are English A30, English B30, Career and Work Exploration 10, 20, and 30. Classes will take place at Bethlehem Catholic High School. If you have any questions regarding the Bethlehem Summer School, please contact Meghan Jones at MJones@gscs.ca or at 306-659-7700.

On-line courses run from Wednesday, July 2nd to 11:00 PM on Friday, August 22nd, 2025, courses cost $450. You can select any of our classes from our courses page; you can click here to view available courses. Camp Molly: A four-day camp opportunity for female youth aged 15 to 18 to get an inside look at a career in fire and emergency services.  Registration is open!



Scholarships – LAST DAY

Affinity Credit Union is proud to offer 30 scholarships, each valued at $1,000. The deadline to apply is April 30th, 2025, so time is of the essence.

To be eligible, students (or their parent/guardian) must be members of Affinity Credit Union. Detailed information about the scholarships, along with application forms, is available online at affinitycu.ca.


Indigenous Student Experience Day is returning to the main University of Saskatchewan campus in Saskatoon on Thursday, May 15.  Registration is now open!  Explore the beautiful campus, learn about programs and services offered, and meet with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, alumni, and Elders.

Sask Health Student Volunteer Program - gr. 10 - 12.  Gain valuable insights into healthcare careers while strengthening your resume and post-secondary applications.


University of Regina - Course Registration Days for Early Conditional Students are coming up soon! Attending these sessions will give you a better chance of securing your preferred class schedule.


U of S Sci-Fi Camps volunteer opportunities

SCI-FI Science Camps is looking for high school students to participate in our Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program. Our CIT volunteers work alongside our Summer Instructors to provide SCI-FI campers the opportunity to learn about science and technology. The CIT volunteer application is open until May 26 and can be found on our website at scifi.usask.ca on the volunteering page.

 

Saskatchewan Association of School Business Officials (SASBO) Scholarships- two $1,500 scholarships awarded annually for students entering a program of study in one of the following areas: finance/accounting, human resources and payroll, facilities (buildings and grounds maintenance), transportation management, procurement, technology, and communications. Deadline to Apply: May 18th.

 

New Scholarship for Grade 12 Graduating Students

The Canadian Forces Family Scholarship from the Bridge City SaskTel Pioneers is for a student that is in Grade 12 and in good academic standing. The student must be a child or dependent of a current or former serving member of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). Student must provide proof of parent or guardian’s service in the CAF such as a copy of a Military Service Identification Card, a Veteran’s Service Card, or a Certificate of Service. Student must demonstrate good character and involvement or support in the school or community as recognized or recommended by SPSD/GSCS teachers and staff. Spotlight on Agriculture & Bioresources - Interact with students and professors at the University of Saskatchewan College of Agriculture & Bioresources and get a behind-the-scenes tour of Ag-related research and technology businesses at Innovation Place - Tuesday, May 13th 9:30 - 2:30.  Application Deadline: May 2nd.

 

Girls Take Flight – free event for female students interested in a career in aviation. Event takes place Saturday May 10th. Make sure to register!  


School Nurse 

Our school nurse, Jenna Braaton will be here Monday afternoons from 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm. The school nurse can help you with the following:

  • Confidential one-on-one student supports with medical & health related matters.
  • Referrals to other community agencies/supports.
  • General first-aid
  • Confidential pregnancy testing and other supports as needed.

 

Students can also text the school nurse at 639-471-8202. Look for the school nurse sign in the hallway and stop in to ask a question, book an appointment or to just say hello!
