Important Information and Upcoming Events at Holy Cross – October 2025
Wednesday, October 1 – Grade 9 Retreat at the school. Students will celebrate Mass in Period 1 and then have sessions during their transition classes.
School Lockdown Drill – Please be advised we will be having a school lockdown drill on Thursday, October 2 at 9:15am. A School Lockdown is implemented when the threat is inside, or thought to be inside, the school. We conduct this drill along with Saskatoon Police Services. Students and staff will be aware this is a drill and we will be reviewing the protocols with the students and staff in advance. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
Perimeter Lockdown Drill – Please be advised we will be having a perimeter lockdown drill on Tuesday, October 7 at 9:15am. A perimeter lockdown is implemented because of a threat or potential threat outside the school. During this time, no students or other individuals are permitted to enter or leave the building. School perimeter doors will be locked. No entry or exit is permitted other than at the main entry doors.
Early Dismissals - Please note that on Thursday, October 9 and Thursday, October 23 students will be dismissed at 12:30. Staff will be participating in professional learning in the afternoon, so please ensure your child has a way home that afternoon. Students need to be out of the building by 12:45. Thanks for your help and cooperation!

Friday, October 10 – World Mental Health Day - We will be doing activities the week of October 6 – 10 focused on providing students with tools/strategies and creating the opportunity to focus on mental health for a few minutes each day.
Monday, October 13 – No school. Happy Thanksgiving!
Student-Parent-Teacher conferences – Thursday, October 16 from 4 – 5:45pm and 6:30 – 8:30pm and Friday, October 17 from 8:30am – 12:30pm. Parents/Guardians can sign up for conferences from October 7 – 14 on Edsby. The schedule will close at 3:30 on October 14. An Edsby notification will come out when the scheduler opens.
Friday, October 17 – No school due to SPT conferences.
Tuesday, October 21 – Grade 12 Graduation Meeting in Period 3 in the theatre. Grad parent night at 7pm in the theatre.
Monday, October 27 – Grade 10 – 12 students are invited to a Scholarship Workshop in the library at lunch.
Orange Shirt Day – We encourage staff and students to wear orange on Friday, October 31 to recognize Truth and Reconciliation. Holy Cross has a Living in Harmony Truth and Reconciliation group of students and staff who will be planning educational events throughout the year. Every last Friday of the month is T&R Friday and orange shirt day.
Student Media Release - Please fill out our GSCS Media Release form. The form must be filled out by a parent/guardian; one per student attending Holy Cross:
It is important for us to know your wishes regarding division and media coverage of student achievements and events during the time your child is a student within our school division. Please note this form also includes permission for your child to be included in the yearbook.

School Attendance and Absences - If your child is missing school, please report their absences in advance in Edsby. If your child is going to miss 3 or more days at a time, they must fill out an extended absence form from the main office to come up with a plan to get caught up on missed school work. Regular attendance is essential for student success.
GSCS Math Lessons – Students can access math video lessons on the GSCS Portal under the icon “HS Math Lessons” for the following courses: Math 90, Foundations and Pre-Calculus 10, Foundations of Math 20 and 30, Pre-Calculus 20 and Calculus 30.
