Michif Language

We are grateful for the continuing support of our partners at the Métis Nation of Saskatchewan, CUMFI, our community members, Métis Elders, and our in-school Language Keeper, Sandra Laliberte. Our community provides guidance with Michif Language and insight into cultural practices while continuing to serve our staff and students with the opportunity to learn the Northern Michif dialect. 

Language is an important part of St. Michael’s Métis School of Excellence. Through our Michif

bilingual programs in kindergarten, grade 1, and grade 2 classes, as well as our Core Michif program; students have the opportunity to learn and speak a language of the Métis. Our language teacher, Sandra Laliberte, created beautiful resources for our students to use while learning the language.
