Land-Based Learning

April 28, 2026

Re-connecting with the land and creation is both culturally and academically important at L' Kwal St. Michael Community School.

In addition to land-based learning opportunities at the school, our elder grows her traditional plants for student teachings. We also have access to an outdoor classroom and programming at Eagle Creek for the study of prairie ecology and environmental issues.

The land was bequeathed to the Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools Foundation by the Scissons family in honour of their parents, Ed and May Scissons, with the understanding that the property would be used to teach children about nature.
