Métis Cookbook Project with CHEP

Cookbook

We are proud to share the news that we have partnered with CHEP Saskatoon to create, write, and design a Métis food-style cookbook. CHEP graciously selected St. Michaels for this project. With our grade 6/7 students, we will be sharing family recipes, researching special traditional recipes, as well as sharing stories of how families connect over a good meal. With the support of our Elder, Mary Morin, and our Language Teacher, Sandra Laliberte, we will infuse the Michif language throughout the book. Our Elder and Language Teacher will also share stories with us about traditional meals from long ago and how some foods are included as a common theme in many meals.

We are very excited to be a part of this project. The cookbook should be completed by Spring 2023. Each student in the classroom will receive a copy and the rest will be sold as a fundraiser for our school. Continue to follow our journey on our Facebook page for more news and updates about this project! Facebook: St. Michaels Community School.
