Pre-kindergarten

Pre-kindergarten is a Ministry of Education funded program for 3- and 4-year-old children.  A holistic approach is foundational to the Pre-kindergarten program. This means that all aspects of a child's life are considered within the program - the family, the community and his/her language, culture, social-emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual development.  Each classroom focuses on play and promotes hand-on learning opportunities.

At St. John School, pre-kindergarten runs four days a week in the mornings.  There are a maximum of 16 students per class, one teacher, and one EA. Nutritional snacks are provided to students each day.

Families need to fill out an application form for potential placement.  Due to the limited availability of pre-kindergarten programs, children and their families are selected based on Ministry of Education criteria.
