Greetings, Bethlehem families.
You should have received a message from GSCS yesterday evening regarding our move to blended learning that will begin on Thursday, November 19th until December 18th. This is in response to direction from the Government of Saskatchewan and is intended to reduce class sizes to allow for more distancing in densely populated high schools.
In order to prepare for this switch to a blended learning format, we will be moving the Professional Learning Day that was originally scheduled for December 7th to Wednesday, November 18. On that day there will be no instruction for students, but school will be in session on December 7th. We will have our updated calendar posted on our website next week.
Starting Thursday, November 19th, students with last names A-K will attend school in face-to-face classes on all odd-numbered days, while students with last names L-Z will be engaging in self-directed learning at home (assigned by the classroom teacher). On Friday, November 20th (an even day), students with last names L-Z will attend face-to-face instruction while students with last names A-K will work at home. The at-home learning is not optional and will represent half of the students' instruction while we remain in a blended format. The daily schedule remains the same with the morning cohort beginning at 8:40 and the afternoon cohort ending at 2:30 with a tutorial from 2:30-3pm.
As our teachers have been maintaining a learning management system (e.g. Google Classroom), much of the at-home work will be managed through these online platforms. We are asking all families to complete the following survey regarding access to technology at home so we can ensure all students have access to their learning. Thank you.
God bless you,
Principal, Bethlehem High School
