Sister OBrien

Sister O'Brien School is named

in recognition of Sister Ann O'Brien

Sister Ann O'Brien, a member of the Sisters of Service religious community, arrived in Saskatoon in 1946. She was appointed as Executive Director of Catholic Family Services and as well, in 1961, as Attendance Officer for the Catholic Schools. She retained both positions until her retirement in 1976.

Sister gave generously of herself to all people at all times. Her concern for others, particularly those less fortunate than herself, gave witness to truly Christian and Catholic values.

Many agencies and organizations have officially recognized her service and as a result she received many awards during her extraordinary life.

Lieutenant Governor George Porteous said of Sister O'Brien,

"She taught the meaning of judgment tempered with love."
