Truth and Reconciliation
Student Notice Student Notice March 18, 2026
As part of our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, implementing the 94 Calls to Action, and in recognition of the 150th anniversary of Treaty 6, Holy Cross High School is creating an Indigenized version of the Holy Cross symbol.
To support this important work, Elder Elizabeth Ahenakew and artist Chris Chipak will be presenting to our students on Thursday, March 19.
Chris Chipak is a visual artist and illustrator from Red Pheasant Cree Nation who currently resides in Saskatoon. His artwork promotes cultural education and represents the Treaty 6 territory, reflecting his passion for storytelling and strengthening connections to Indigenous culture. Chris is a well-known artist whose logo designs include work for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the U of S Huskies, and the Saskatoon Blades.
Throughout this process, students will have opportunities to learn about 150 years of Treaty history and participate in aspects of the design journey. Additional chances to work directly with the artist will be available in the coming weeks.
We look forward to seeing the final design and proudly displaying it in our school. Sincere appreciation to the Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan and our Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools FNMI team for funding this project.
