Important Information and Upcoming Events at Holy Cross – November 2025

 

Monday, November 3 – Midterm Marks and Learning Behaviour Assessments shared in Edsby.

 

Tuesday, November 4 – Shortened Day, 12:15 dismissal. Please note we will be dismissing students a bit earlier at 12:15pm that day as our Fall Awards ceremonies are in the afternoon. Students on the honour roll from last year in Grades 9 – 11 will be recognized at the ceremony. Students received an invitation if they are involved with the event.

1:00 – 2:00 pm – Students with last names L – Z

2:45 – 3:45pm – Students with last names A - K

Students who are not involved with the ceremonies are expected to leave the building at 12:15. Students in the first ceremony should line up in the north gym at 12:30. Students involved in the second ceremony are able to wait in the theater with supervision and then assemble in the north gym at 2:15pm.

 

Wednesday, November 5 – Take a Student to Work day for Grade 9 students. If a student does not have a work placement, we will have some career educations presentations at the school for the day.

 

Monday, November 10 – Remembrance Day Ceremony, special schedule. Poppy distribution will be in Period 3 the week prior.

 

Tuesday, November 11 – No school – Remembrance Day. 


Wednesday, November 12 - Catholic School Community Council Meeting from 6 – 7pm at St. Frances Cree School, 2010 7th Street. Contact Principal Krista Hayes for more information at khayes@gscs.ca

 

Thursday, November 13 – Rock you Mocs Day - Wear your moccasins to school this day!


 

Tuesday, November 18 – SUTIL Career Fair – Grade 11 students have a presentation in Period 4. In Period 5, Grade 10 and 11 classes will have time to view career education booths.

 

Wednesday, November 19 - Memorial Mass at noon in the chapel for any students or staff who would like to attend.

 

Alice in Wonderland School Production – Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28 at 7:00pm and Saturday, November 29 at 1:00pm and 7pm. More details about ticket sales to come.

Early Dismissals - Please note that on Thursday, November 20 students will be dismissed at 12:30.  Staff will be participating in professional learning in the afternoon, so please ensure your child has a way home that afternoon. Students need to be out of the building by 12:45. Thanks for your cooperation!

 

Orange Shirt Day – We encourage staff and students to wear orange on Friday, November 28 to recognize Truth and Reconciliation. Holy Cross has a Living in Harmony Truth and Reconciliation group of students and staff who will be planning educational events throughout the year. Every last Friday of the month is T&R Friday and orange shirt day.

 

Schools win Twice - Tickets are now on sale for the 2025 Schools Win Twice online lottery and 50/50!

Buy your tickets for a chance to win one of seven fantastic prizes, including the grand prize of a $10,000 family vacation package. And don’t forget to add your 50/50 tickets with a maximum payout of $250,000.

 

When purchasing tickets, be sure to select the school you want to support (Holy Cross!so our school gets 50 per cent of their school’s prize lottery ticket sales. We will be putting these funds towards additional chrome books for student use. Ticket sales end December 3.

GSCS Conflict Resolution Policy - The school has a responsibility to facilitate communication and provide direction to parents who initiate complaints or concerns in accordance with the Respectful Conflict Resolution process:

Please start with the staff member involved. A conversation is often all that is needed to come to an agreement on how to remedy the concern. Following the conversation, if the situation remains unresolved, you can contact the school administration.
