General Notices
Lockers
If you requested a locker for this upcoming year, it will not be the same locker you were assigned last year.
If you filled out the locker request form, your locker number will be available to view on My School Sask. Please go to your GSCS portal, My School Sask tile, My Info, Locker Number is located on the right side at the bottom of the page.
A reminder you must use your school lock and do not give out locker information to others.

Library News
The library will be open on Sept 9th for individual students who need to print or reset their password.
The library will also not be open in the morning on September 10th. Sorry for any inconvenience this will cause.
Jersey Sale!!
All welcome week there will be a jersey sale outside the gym by the glass wall during lunch! All tops are $10, and all shorts are $5!!! Come select the style and colour you want! We have a large selection of white jerseys for Thursdays white out day!!! Cash only.
Welcome Week Football Game - Thursday, September 10, 5:15pm at SMF vs STJ.
Cost of Admission - Students must show their student card (can use last year's if needed) to get in for $3, Adults $5. Cash is recommended. Come early as the line can be long!
Staff are free with your HC staff card.
Students are responsible for their transportation to and from the game.
For Grade 9s - Grade 9 students will receive a non-transferable wristband to get into the game for free in their transition/EAL/French class on Thursday. Grade 9s must gather at the front gate at SMF no later than 5:00pm to meet an Administrator and enter as a group. Please do not bring bags/backpacks.
For all students . . .come out and support the team but please be aware of the SMF rules and our school expectations:
Security will be in place at the event and entrance doors. Backpacks, purses, etc will be searched by security.
No smoking or vaping in SMF. Be respectful of SMF property.
This is a school activity so no drug/alcohol use prior to or during game.
Students must behave in a responsible and sportsmanlike manner, keeping all cheering positive in nature.
If a student leaves SMF Field for any reason they will not be allowed re-entry.
HC students must sit in the bleachers behind our team's beach and must sit in the stands (no hanging out in front or underneath the stands). Students are reminded to not stand, step, or push on the seats.
Any items used in hazing type activities such as shaving cream, hair spray, perfume, bingo dabbers will be confiscated at the gate by the security guards.
Any feather scarfs/boas or other garments that leave tiny bits of garbage behind to clean will be confiscated at the gate.
No outside food/drinks or containers of any type are allowed into SMF Field.

TOONIES FOR TERRY – Terry Fox Fundraiser
“Even if I don’t finish, we need others to continue. It’s got to keep going without me.” When Terry spoke these works in 1980, he could not have imagined that 45 years later so many would take up his call. Last year 3.9 million students in Canada were walking, rolling, wheeling, running, and fundraising. Last year we were a part of that number and our school contributed $1,794.30 to cancer research. The Terry fox team has reached an extraordinary milestone of raising $1 billion dollars, to date, for cancer research in Terry’s name. This achievement belongs to every volunteer, donor, and fundraiser who believes in Terry’s dream and helps turn it into lasting impact. But that number represents more than dollars. It means lives improved, discoveries made, and hope extended to families across Canada and around the world.
This year, students from Mrs. Turk’s and Mrs. Sherven’s grade 11 and 12 Phys ed classes will be heading our fundraising endeavors. We want to raise TOONIES FOR TERRY. Our goal is to raise $2 per person in our building. The class that can raise the most amount of money will earn Nesters’ Long Johns for their entire class.
We will do our 20 min walk for Terry on Monday Sept 21st during period 3. Grade 9s will start walking at 11:00, grade 10s at 11:15, grade 11 at 11:30, and grade 12s at 11:40. We will send out the route closer to the date.
You can give your donations to your homeroom teacher, who will collect them in the envelope they were provided. Or you can donate online. If you donate online, encourage your teacher to set up a classroom page so that the money still goes towards your class winning long johns. Morning Ball
Due to morning classes in the gym in the first semester, there will no longer be morning ball. The weight room will still be open in the mornings EXCEPT on Tuesdays. Please do not enter the gym area while classes are in session unless you are going to the weight room.
Music
There is a FULL CHOIR practice TODAY at lunch in the theatre.
Driver’s Ed
Please make sure to check the Driver’s Ed bulletin board for the driving schedule.
New classes will be starting in October so make sure to register.
SRC
The SRC would officially like to welcome all students for the 2026/2027 school year. Whether you are a returning student, a new student, or a grade 9 student we welcome you! Next week will be our official welcome week with lots of activities going on for grade 9s and the whole student body!
Wednesday: Grade 9s will be treated to a special treat form the SRC in period 3. Delivery information will be communicated to period 3 teachers.
Thursday: "WHITE OUT" day for the whole school. Wear white to cheer on our football team in the welcome week game against St. Joes. We will have a Period 5 pep rally and there will be hairstyling after school in the courtyard for grade 12s to get the grade 9s ready for the football game. Any grade 12s that want to do the hairstyling must sign up on the sign-up sheet on Mrs. Buzinski's door (room 381). All materials will be provided. All interested grade 9s will come to the courtyard after school and grade 12s will style your hair for the football game. We will also have materials for making posters for anyone who wants to participate but not get their hair styled.
Volunteer
CAP Opportunity - If you would like to get started on the volunteer hours for your CAP, there are two afternoons open at awâsisak kâ-nîmîhtocik - St. Francis School (2010 7th St E): Thursday, Sept 17 and Thursday, Oct 1 from 1-3:30pm. Please see Mrs. Dale to sign up or send her an Edsby message. There will be 4 more opportunities before Christmas as well.

Clubs
Rosary Making Club
The Rosary Group will be starting up TODAY at 3:15 in the Chapel. Bring a friend and join us for 1.5 hours of Rosary making. We have an order for 90 rosaries by Oct 15, everybody's help is appreciated. See you in the Chapel!
Youth Alliance
The Youth Alliance Club is a group for the 2SLGBTQ+ community and their allies. Hosted in Room 361, this safe and inclusive space meets every other Thursday all year! Come to our first get together this Thursday (September 10th) to reconnect and meet new people!
Faith and Science
Are you curious about the natural relationship that exists between faith and science? Are you interested in reading philosophy, theology, and scientific journal articles? Are you interested in lively conversation and serious reflection then come to our first information meeting at lunch on Wednesday in room 400 (Mr. Cratty’s room in the new portables). Come check it out!
Global Bridges
We will be starting a new group in the school dedicated to increasing unity and understanding between cultures and encouraging empowerment within our school and community. If you would like to come discuss what this group may look like, come to an information meeting in room 400 (Mr. Cratty’s room in the new portables) on Friday at lunch. All are welcome!
Outdoor Ed - Senior Hike
Attention all Grade 12s interested in participating in the Senior Hiking Trip this year! You MUST be registered in at least 3 in-person classes in the second semester to be eligible to attend this year's trip. We will have our first meeting in April, so stay tuned for the specific date. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Wihak.
Athletics
Junior Boys Volleyball Tryouts!
Grade 9 and 10 boys are welcome to tryout for the junior boys volleyball team. A sign-up sheet will be posted in the gym hallway across from the elevator. Please attend all 3 tryouts. See Mrs. Santos in the female PhysEd office if you have any questions.
Wednesday September 9th 3:30-5pm North Gym
You must be changed into athletic wear with proper footwear. NO CLUB TEAM CLOTHING ALLOWED!
JUNIOR GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS -Gr. 9/10
There will be 3 junior girls volleyball teams this year: 1 Premier team and 2 Championship teams.
Each athlete is guaranteed 3 tryouts. You are welcome to tryout for either team.
Wednesday Sept 9 3:30 – 5 pm Premier girls South Gym
5 – 6:30 pm Championship girls South Gym
You MUST attend all tryouts to make the team unless you speak with your coach.
If you are trying out for Premier, you must also come to Championship tryouts in case you don't make the Premier team. This will give you the best chance to make a team.
No club outfits for tryouts
Bring water bottle, indoor shoes, gym clothes, etc. and BE READY to tryout at the posted time.

University of Saskatchewan Open House on Friday September 25th.
U of A at Holy Cross: University of Alberta advisors are coming to Holy Cross! They will have a presentation on Thursday September 10th at lunch time in the Large Office Conference room. Any students in grade 10-12 who are interested can sign up in Student Services.
Grade 12 Students – Counsellors will have a Grade 12 Information session for students on September 14 and 15th during period 4. Your classes have been assigned a date to attend. If you miss the presentation, you must ensure you attend the make-up session on Friday September 18th at lunchtime in the library. This is an important presentation to give information about graduation requirements, post-secondary applications and much more.
