General Notices

Lost & Found

We currently have many items left in the lost and found from last year. Items such as air pods and keys on lanyards. Please come to the office to identify anything you may have misplaced.


Light & Sound

There is a Light and Sound meeting TODAY after school in Room 323.


Edge School Photo Proofs

Students will be receiving their photo proofs in Period 3 TODAY. It says on the photo proofs that the due date is September 28 to qualify for free shipping to the school, but we have spoken with Edge to have this date extended to Friday, October 2.

Students with Period 3 spares can come to the main office to pick up their proofs.

Photo Retake Day is Monday, September 28 in the library. If you would like to get a retake, we will call students down by grade and last name to the library throughout the day.


Math Contests for Gr 9-12: Are you interested in applying to elite STEM programs in the future? Are you an out-of-the-box thinker? Consider expanding your math skills and pushing yourself to do the University of Waterloo Math Contests! Come to a meeting this Thursday Sept 24th in Room 376 (new portables by science) to learn more info! If you can’t make the meeting, please speak with Ms. McQuillan or Mr. San Jose.

Join us on September 29 for a special Truth and Reconciliation Week Breaking Performance presented by Circle of Fifths / The Spot Arts Community.

📍 Location: South Gym, Holy Cross High School
⏰ Time: 12:15 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Get ready for head spins, power moves, footwork, and good vibes as Métis youth breakers, ages 5 to 15, showcase the energy, creativity, and athleticism of breaking. Through dynamic performances, these young artists celebrate movement, culture, resilience, and community while honoring the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation.

Come experience an inspiring blend of high-energy dance, cultural pride, and youth leadership. All students and staff are welcome!


Community Travel Club - Easter Travel 2027
Want to travel with your friends? Want to travel to Hong Kong for 11 days, over the Easter break? We are currently looking for Holy Cross students to join our community travel group for the Easter break 2027.

See the posters in the hallways and sign up for the first meeting, using the QR code.

Our first information meeting will be a virtual meeting held on September 28th at 7:00pm! Sign up quickly as there are limited spots available!


Student Media Release 

Please fill out our GSCS Media Release form. One Media Consent form is now "valid" for the entire duration of each student's time at a school. If a student transfers to a new school, a new form will have to be completed, including transitioning from elementary to high school.

The Student Media Release form is mandatory; it is important for us to know your wishes regarding division and media coverage of student achievements and events during the time your child is a

student within our school division. Please note this form also includes permission for your child to be included in the yearbook.


Extended Leave Forms

If you are going to miss 4 or more days of school, you must complete an extended leave form from the main office. Please pick up the form 2 weeks in advance to allow time to complete the form and connect with teachers. 


Homework Hall Tutorial 

Would you like help from a teacher with your homework in a quiet space? Homework Hall tutorial time takes place every lunch hour in Room 332. All students are welcome to attend; it does not have to be assigned to you – you can just drop in.

There is a FULL CHOIR practice TODAY at lunch.

 

Driver’s Ed

Please make sure to check the Driver’s Ed bulletin board for the driving schedule.

New classes will be starting in October so make sure to register.

 

Volunteer

On Thursday, October 1, our friends at Stensrud need our help!

After school, beginning at 12:45 p.m., students who are interested in helping with yard cleanup are invited to join me and a few students from Walter Murray as we winterize Stensrud's courtyard.

Please remember to:

  • Bring a pair of garden gloves
  • Wear clothing appropriate for the weather

If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up in Student Services.

This opportunity counts toward your CAP hours. Ms. Carter RAP

Clubs

Pray the Rosary

Every Monday at 12:15 in the Chapel. We have rosaries, and rosary pamphlets to make this a prayerful experience for you. Please join us for this time of community prayer. 


Rosary Group

Our Rosary Group meets every Wednesday after school from 3:15-4:45 in the Chapel to make rosaries that are donated around the world. One Wednesday will earn you 1.5 CAP hours. Please contact Mrs. Dale if you have any questions. 


The Knitting and Stitching Club

We will be launching our first after school session on Thursday October 1, beginning at 3:30. Bring your knitting, your crochet, your friendship bracelets and come stitch for a while! See you there!

Film Club

NOW TUESDAYS AT LUNCH IN 121!

Welcome back, Fantastic Film Friends, and a warm welcome to everyone who likes to watch the newest trailers and short films, then discuss all things cinema among a most excellent student-led crowd! Drop in, bring your lunch and a friend, and let’s get rolling!


Attention Gamers! The Chess and Games Club is now open and ready for your genius. For those interested in chess, please feel free to attended Monday to Friday anytime over lunch in room 377. For those interested in board games, card games, and RPG games, please go to room 122 Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Faith and Science

We meet at lunch TODAY to discuss format and pick up our first reading, “The Unreasonable Effectiveness of Mathematics in the Natural Sciences.” Come out to see what we are all about and plan our first official meeting!

We meet in room 400 (Mr. Cratty's room) in the new portables.


Global Bridges

Global Bridges is a group that will be focused on racial justice and promoting cultural understanding within our school. The next group meeting will be next week, Thursday, September 24th at lunch in room 400 (Mr. Cratty's room). It is upstairs in the new portables.



Youth Alliance

The Youth Alliance Club is a group for the 2SLGBTQ+ community and their allies. Hosted in Room 361, this safe and inclusive space meets every other Thursday all year! 

 

Athletics

Sr. Boys Basketball 

There will be a quick 10-minute meeting in Mr. Vause's classroom (Room 116) TODAY at 12:05. Everyone who signed up to volunteer at Step Up this weekend needs to attend as well as anyone who would like to sign up. We will be going over final details and locations for the weekend.

School Nurse

Our school nurse is Jenna, RN, BSN, IBCLC. She is here at Holy Cross High School on Monday afternoons from 12:30 – 4:00 pm. All visits with the school nurse are confidential. The school nurse can help you with:

  • Confidential one-on-one student supports with medical & health related matters.
  • Referrals to other community agencies/supports.
  • General First Aid
  • Confidential pregnancy testing and other supports as needed.
  • Students are also able to text the school nurse at 306-230-2483. Look for the School Nurse sign in the school hallway and stop in to say hello!

Army Reserves is hosting an Open House this Saturday September 26th from 10 AM - 6 PM. Location: 930 Idylwyld Dr N, Saskatoon

Forum for Young Canadians 2027 is a unique opportunity for Canadian youth aged 15 to 18 to spend a week in Ottawa exploring Parliament, participating in leadership and political simulations, and connecting with students from across the country. Applications are open now, with summit sessions taking place between February and April 2027, and financial assistance is available to ensure cost is not a barrier.
