Wrestling
Our Holy Cross Wrestling Team had an exceptional showing this last weekend competing in the provincial championship at Evan Hardy!
On the boys’ side, it was a hard-fought battle. Only sending 11 boys, one of the smallest numbers we have sent in a long time, they were able to achieve a 3rd place finish overall, only 11 points short of defending the title from last year. Well done boys!
On the girls’ side, only sending 5 girls, our deadly squad was able to have all 5 of our girls scoring team points. This was the difference maker for our girls. Our girls were able to top the province, holding the tie breaker criteria over Regina Riffel due to our gold medalists, to defend their title from last year to become the 2026 Girls Provincial Champions!! That might be a record for the smallest girls’ team to win the provincial title!
That makes 3 straight years of our girls’ team finishing the season as the provincial champs! Well done girls!!
Now for our Individual Athletes deserving special recognition include:
Your 2026 Provincial Bronze Medalists:
• Anes “The Swift” S.
• Ava “High-Powered” H.
• Ryland “Razor-Sharp“M.
Your Gold Medalists and 2026 Provincial Champions:
• “All That” Nat E.
• “Agile” Azianne M.
• 2-time provincial champion “Supersonic” Sofia B.
• 3-time provincial champion “Outstanding” Olipa M.
We have had quite the season this year having many athletes earn individual accolades after many hours of hard work and determination! Our girls team finishes their year as the Provincial Champions and our boys team finished as the Duel and City Champions this year. I’m proud to be able to coach each and every one of you who chooses to call yourself a Crusader Wrestler!
