General Notices
Shortened Thursday
Thursday, February 5 is a shortened day and the Grade 8s are visiting that afternoon. As a result, the main entrance/exit will be closed to our Holy Cross students at 12:30 as buses will be dropping off the Grade 8 students at that time. Please plan to use a different exit that day. Students must also leave the school at 12:30 as the school is closed for the afternoon (unless you are a student leader helping with Grade 8 visits). Thank you for your help and cooperation! We will have staff at the main doors/area to block it off and re-direct traffic.
Student Volunteers needed for Basketball games at Holy Cross

SRC
Next week is teacher appreciation week and your SRC would like to help you recognize a teacher in your life. Come to the SRC room Tuesday and Wednesday at lunch to fill in a free thank you note for any or all of your teachers!
Chapel News
Jesus is now present in the tabernacle in the Chapel. The reserved consecrated eucharist from our school Mass on Jan. 21 is in the tabernacle, and you will notice that the tabernacle light is on. Please keep this in mind when you are visiting our Chapel for
prayer or reflection. God bless you.
Driver’s Ed
Please make sure to check the Driver’s Ed Bulletin Board by Student Services to see the driving schedule and information on registering for Driver’s Ed. Make sure to register soon to enter the next lunch hour class beginning in February or the next after school class which still has openings.

Homework Hall Tutorial
Would you like help from a teacher with your homework in a quiet space? Homework Hall tutorial time takes place each lunch hour in Room 341 (Mr. Heath's room). All students are welcome to attend.
CAP Opportunities
LYNGr (Love Your Neighbour Group) would like to invite you to an informational gathering on Thursday, Feb 5 at 12:30 in the Chapel to learn about the Crusader Acre. If you are intrigued by this, and you like to bake, and you need some CAP hours — please join us for this gathering. See you there!
Coldest Night of the Year
On February 28, 2026, The Mustard Seed is hosting Coldest Night of the Year, a special fundraising 2km/5km walk to raise awareness and support for people experiencing homelessness in Saskatoon. We are looking for team captains who would gather 7-8 friends to walk with them, or individuals who would like to volunteer the day of the event.
Here are some ways to get involved:
- Register a team online at cnoy.org . During registration, select Saskatoon East https://cnoy.org/location/saskatooneast where you will find our charity listed. Once registered, invite team members. Any hours you put towards getting a team together counts as volunteer hours.

- Not up for walking but want to help out? Check out the volunteer positions here We need lots of volunteers to make this event successful and you can fulfill mandatory hours this way as well.

Important information
- You must be 17 years or older.
- When registering, use your government-issued name given at birth.
- You must bring your government-issued ID to your appointment.
- Please check the height and weight chart to ensure you meet the requirements before signing up.
- A shuttle will pick you up and return you to school after your appointment.
- Scan the QR code to reserve a time for your donation appointment (Thursday Feb 5th or Friday Feb 6th). QR codes can be found on posters around the school.
There will be a meeting Monday February 2nd at lunch in Room 134 to help students sign up for the blood drive or answer any questions you have.

Clubs
Outdoor Ed - Reminder for those who signed up for the trip to Wapiti Valley Ski Resort this Thursday, February 5th Please meet at the front doors of the school at 6:30 a.m. to load the bus and get a seat. The bus will depart promptly at 6:45 a.m. Be sure to refer to the packing list provided with the information package to ensure you have everything you need. Also remember you are responsible for informing your teachers of your absence and catching up on any work that you miss. See you Thursday morning!
Bannock & Tea
Upcoming Semester 2 Bannock and Tea Dates:
We are making a few changes to the Bannock and Tea format for February! Please read the dates below carefully. All students and staff are welcome to join.
- Thursday February 5thfrom 1-2:45 PM
- This event is during the afternoon of a PD Day schedule (half-day).
- If you want to participate in making Bannock, you need to sign up in student services by February 4. We will let you know about location when you sign up.
- Tuesday February 24th after school from 3:20-4:30 PM in room 294
Rosary group
The Rosary will be prayed in the Chapel on Mondays at 12:15, rosaries and copies of the prayers will be provided.
Rosary making will begin after the February Break – we are waiting for supplies to arrive.
Holy Cross Youth Alliance
The Youth Alliance is back! This group is for our 2SLGBTQ+ Students and Allies! It focuses on advocacy and support for all our students and staff here, regardless of their identity. We meet every Thursday during noon hour in room 361. Join us for our 10th year of being a club at Holy Cross, a school where everyone belongs! ❤️
Book Club
Join the HCHS's Book Club and discover new worlds with fellow students who love to read. We’re all about great books, good conversation, and an escape from the usual routine.
We meet on the last Tuesday of every month during lunch in classroom 102. Bring your lunch and a list of your favorite books, and we’ll pick 2-3 to read for the month.
Chess Club
Chess club has moved to room 377 in the new portables. All levels of skill are welcome.
Games Club
All those students interested in playing board games and card games over lunch hour are invited to come out and play in Room 122 Tuesday – Friday. If you do not know how to play, you will learn. See Mr. Allen for more information.
Athletics
Holy Cross is getting a hockey team! Have you always wanted to learn to skate or maybe try to play hockey? All the barriers to starting are taken away with this team because we have a sponsor through Jumpstart! This is 4-5 weeks for 2x per week with a final day tournament and food and special guest.
- Criteria: Grade 9 students. May take some grade 10s if needed.
- Not currently playing SMHA
- Fees - $0
- Transportation- Taken care for you.
- No experience necessary, skill levels from learning to skate to have played before.
- No equipment required; all equipment taken care of.
- This is Co ed.

February Break Job Opportunity
