General Notices 

**An important reminder to please use the crosswalks when crossing the streets and use the crosswalk light on Taylor Street for safety reasons. **


Lockers Clean Out

An important reminder to clean out your lockers before the Christmas break. Throw out any food/garbage and take-home containers. Take home your Phys ed clothes to wash. Please do not leave any food in your locker over the Christmas break. Thanks for your help with this!

 

Lost & Found

The Lost & Found is set up by the main office this week – please come have a look to see if anything is yours. Anything left at the end of Friday will be donated.
 

Winter Formal – Save the Date

Grade 12 Winter Formal is January 26th at Gordie Howe!
 The theme this year is Masquerade.
 Mystery encouraged. Drama expected. 

Tickets are $55 and will be on sale January 7-9 Tap and cash will be accepted!

This event is organized by our Parent 2026 Grad Committee


FRANCO-FUN

We are meeting Wednesday December 17th at lunch for all French speaking students. Please come and celebrate with us in room 111.

 

Black History Month

There will be a meeting to discuss plans for February on Thursday, December 18th at noon in Room 249 (Mr. Cratty’s room). If you are interested in planning, please join us.

Last day to Drop Semester 1 classes.

The last day to drop without academic penalty will be January 9th. If you need to drop a class, please make an appointment with your grade appropriate counsellor. You will need to get a drop form and make sure you are not going to be missing something for your credit attainment. 

 

2025-26 Media Release Forms – Only 55% completed.

This is a reminder that Student Media Release forms must be completed ASAP.

The form must be filled out by a parent/guardian; one per student attending Holy Cross.

**ONE ACT PLAYS, 2026 - EARLY NOTICE FOR GRADE 12 DIRECTORS**

Are you in Grade 12? Have you been involved in theater, listened to directors, and thought: “Can talented students like me do that, too?” Are you… Awesome™?

If that describes YOU and you’re interested in CHOOSING, CASTING and DIRECTING a One Act Play this spring, come see Mr. Adams in Room 121 before Fri. Dec. 19 to indicate your interest and get some early information.

BRIT Banner

Congratulations to our BRIT banner painters for finishing the banner. Please see our Edsby page for wrap up details. 


A big shout out to all the staff and students who were involved with our BRIT banner. It looks amazing! Thanks for all your time and commitment to the poster.

The poster will be featured at the BRIT basketball tournament Jan 8 - 10 at Bedford Road.

Scent-free School! 

Reminder to all students that Holy Cross is a scent-free building.  Please refrain from using excessive amounts of perfumes, colognes or body sprays which would impact those around you who have allergies to strong scents. 


Driver’s Ed 

Please remember to check the Driver’s Ed bulletin board near Student Services for your drive times. 

Also on shortened Thursdays, Driver’s Ed classes run from 12:30 – 3:30 in Room 354. 

 

Homework Hall Tutorial  

Would you like help from a teacher with your homework in a quiet space? Homework Hall tutorial time takes place each lunch hour in Room 341 (Mr. Heath's room). All students are welcome to attend. 

 

SRC Events

Week Three: December 15-December 19

Santa Gram Sale- TODAY swing by the SRC room (off the cafeteria/commons) to buy your friends a candy gram. These will be delivered on Friday, December 19 in homeroom/period 3.

Name that Tune- TODAY join the homeroom competition to identify the Christmas songs. First homeroom to respond with the correct songs and artists wins a prize!

Holiday Bingo- Wednesday, December 17 - Homeroom challenge again! Join us for a Bingo game. The first homeroom class to score a bingo wins a prize!

Caroling in the Cafe- Thursday, December 18- join us in the caf for the musical stylings of your peers as we karaoke Christmas songs!

Christmas Hat Day- Thursday, December 18- Wear your favourite Santa Hat for this festive eve of the last day of school before holidays.

Christmas Sock Day- Friday, December 19

Pictures with Santa- Grab your friends and your phones and come and join us in the caf to get your photos taken with Santa.

Clubs

Holy Cross Youth Alliance 

The Youth Alliance is back! This group is for our 2SLGBTQ+ Students and Allies! It focuses on advocacy and support for all our students and staff here, regardless of their identity. We meet every Thursday during noon hour in room 361. Join us for our 10th year of being a club at Holy Cross, a school where everyone belongs! ❤️ 


Holy Cross Bible Club  

Let’s not forget the reason for the season and spend some time in Gods' word this holiday!

As nice as it is to hang out with family and friends, we must equally give our Lord and saviour attention and remember that it is because of him we are free. Join us on Thursday, December 18 at lunch in the Chapel as we discuss our reading on The Gospel of John, Chapter 1. There will also be games and treats.

Bannock & Tea – Tuesday, December 16th, 2025

We’re excited to welcome an Elder to join us, and we’ll be starting a loom-beading project!

Rosary group

The Rosary will be prayed in the Chapel on Mondays at 12:15, rosaries and copies of the prayers will be provided.  Rosaries will be made on Wednesdays after school in Room 241 from 3:20-4:35. You can count 1.25 hours toward your CAP for each session attended (4 sessions = 5 hours).  Please contact Mrs. Dale if you have any questions.    


Chess Club  

Chess club has moved to room 377 in the new portables.

All levels of skill are welcome.

 

Book Club  

Join the HCHS's Book Club and discover new worlds with fellow students who love to read. We’re all about great books, good conversation, and an escape from the usual routine. 

We meet on the last Tuesday of every month during lunch in classroom 102. Bring your lunch and a list of your favorite books, and we’ll pick 2-3 to read for the month.  

 

Games Club 

All those students interested in playing board games and card games over lunch hour are invited to come out and play in Room 122 Tuesday – Friday. If you do not know how to play, you will learn. See Mr. Allen for more information.
