General Notices 

**An important reminder to please use the crosswalks when crossing the streets and use the crosswalk light on Taylor Street for safety reasons. **

 

Shortened Day – Thursday December 11th.

A reminder that we have a 12:30 dismissal on Thursday, December 11. Students need to leave the building by 12:45 and can return at 3:15 if they have supervised extracurricular activities. 

The commons will be closed during Period 5 on Thursday December 11 so we can set up for our staff Christmas lunch.

 

Last day to Drop Semester 1 classes.

The last day to drop without academic penalty will be January 9th. If you need to drop a class, please make an appointment with your grade appropriate counsellor. You will need to get a drop form and make sure you are not going to be missing something for your credit attainment. 

 

YXE Team Math Contest 

An opportunity for math-loving students across the city to come together to problem solve, socialize, and write contests. Scheduled items include:

  • Group games and puzzles
  • Guest speaker from the U of S math department
  • Contest rounds (Individual, Team, Relay)
  • Awards and prizes!

 

When: Saturday, December 13th. Morning starts 10:00am-12:00pm. Contest rounds start at 1:00pm. Wrap up by 4:30pm. *Lunch will NOT be provided - please prepare a lunch, campus food vendors will be closed on the weekend (besides Health Sci Tim's, which is a little far) 

Where: University of Saskatchewan, College of Engineering, Room 2C02. 

Signup: Use Google Form to sign up as an individual or find up to 3 other friends to form a team. If signing up as a team, please have one member sign up for all of them in a single Form. All abilities are welcome to join. Signup is completely free! If you can have your students sign up ASAP so we can have an accurate idea of numbers, that would be greatly appreciated. Teams will NOT require a supervisor to accompany them.


2025-26 Media Release Forms – Only 53% completed.

This is a reminder that Student Media Release forms must be completed ASAP.

The form must be filled out by a parent/guardian; one per student attending Holy Cross.

It is important for us to know your wishes regarding division and media coverage of student achievements and events during the time your child is a student within our school division.

Cafeteria in Period 1

For the next few weeks Ms. Climenhaga's Period 1 Visual Art 90 class will be taking place in the cafeteria in order to have access to a sink. 7 tables now have signs indicating they are reserved for Period 1, and we'd like to ask that nobody sit at those tables between 8:35 - 9:42 am. 


Binders at Market Mall

There is an abundance of binders at the Market Mall Lost & Found so if you’re missing yours, please go to the Administration Office located right off the Food Court.

A reminder the commons is closed for cleaning in Period 4.

Scent-free School! 

Reminder to all students that Holy Cross is a scent-free building.  Please refrain from using excessive amounts of perfumes, colognes or body sprays which would impact those around you who have allergies to strong scents. 


Driver’s Ed 

Please remember to check the Driver’s Ed bulletin board near Student Services for your drive times. 

Also on shortened Thursdays, Driver’s Ed classes run from 12:30 – 3:30 in Room 354. 

 

Homework Hall Tutorial  

Would you like help from a teacher with your homework in a quiet space? Homework Hall tutorial time takes place each lunch hour in Room 341 (Mr. Heath's room). All students are welcome to attend.

**ONE ACT PLAYS, 2026 - EARLY NOTICE FOR GRADE 12 DIRECTORS**

Are you in Grade 12? Have you been involved in theater, listened to directors, and thought: “Can talented students like me do that, too?” Are you… Awesome™?

 

If that describes YOU and you’re interested in CHOOSING, CASTING and DIRECTING a One Act Play this spring, come see Mr. Adams in Room 121 before Fri. Dec. 19 to indicate your interest and get some early information.

Time, Talent, and Treasure – Advent & CAP Opportunities

Please speak with Mrs. Dale for clarification about any activity, and to sign up.

 

JPIInies –P3 classes will be collecting toonies ($2) - or greater amounts - to support families at St Pope John Paul II Elementary School with Christmas hampers.  Deadline to donate is December 12thThe class that collects the most from each grade level will be able to celebrate with a doughnut party on Dec 18 or 19.  

 

Adopt An ElderThere are only 16 Elders left to be adopted!  Don't miss out - see Mrs. Dale today to adopt an Elder and earn 3 CAP hours.  

Donate your time, talent, and treasure as you receive the name of an Elder who resides at Stensrud Lodge (across McEown Street from Holy Cross). You will learn what their hobbies and interests are so that you can provide them with a nice card and small appropriate gift for their Christmas party, which is during lunch on Monday, December 15. Let’s have a large group of Crusaders crossing the street to bring joy to these elders!

Chaplaincy News

Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe 

If you would like to be part of a prayer service on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe (patron saint of the Americas) please see Mrs. Dale.  This will happen on Friday, Dec 12 in the Chapel at lunch to coincide with our Orange Shirt Day this month.  Please sign up so we have the right number of materials and lunch for all who attend.  

Sacrament of Reconciliation:  Please sign up for Reconciliation (confessions) which will happen on the morning of December 16 in the Chapel.  You can leave your name, grade, and option of period 1, 2, or 3 at the main office, or with Mrs. Dale by the end of Friday December 12th

Christmas PJ Day- Friday, December 12- Wear your fuzziest and most jolly Christmas Pj’s to help get us to the weekend!

Bannock & Tea – Tuesday, December 16th, 2025

We’re excited to welcome an Elder to join us, and we’ll be starting a loom-beading project!

SADD

Hey Crusaders! SADD currently has over 2000 paper liquor bags that need to be redistributed to elementary schools to be decorated as part of a Don’t Drink and Drive awareness initiative.

If you have any connections to an elementary school, class, or teacher (or you are willing to help deliver bags to an elementary class and return them once decorated), we would greatly appreciate your support! The goal is for the bags to be decorated this week if possible so they can be used for the campaign in the next 2 weeks.

If you can help in any way, please come to room 102 for more details.

 

Holy Cross Youth Alliance 

The Youth Alliance is back! This group is for our 2SLGBTQ+ Students and Allies! It focuses on advocacy and support for all our students and staff here, regardless of their identity. We meet every Thursday during noon hour in room 361. Join us for our 10th year of being a club at Holy Cross, a school where everyone belongs! ā¤ļø 

 

Rosary group

The Rosary will be prayed in the Chapel on Mondays at 12:15, rosaries and copies of the prayers will be provided.  Rosaries will be made on Wednesdays after school in Room 241 from 3:20-4:35. You can count 1.25 hours toward your CAP for each session attended (4 sessions = 5 hours).  Please contact Mrs. Dale if you have any questions.    


Chess Club  

Chess club has moved to room 377 in the new portables.

All levels of skill are welcome.

 

Book Club  

Join the HCHS's Book Club and discover new worlds with fellow students who love to read. We’re all about great books, good conversation, and an escape from the usual routine. 

We meet on the last Tuesday of every month during lunch in classroom 102. Bring your lunch and a list of your favorite books, and we’ll pick 2-3 to read for the month.  

 

Games Club 

All those students interested in playing board games and card games over lunch hour are invited to come out and play in Room 122 Tuesday – Friday. If you do not know how to play, you will learn. See Mr. Allen for more information.

BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF SASKATOON – 

There is a collection box in the main office for those who would like to donate.  The collection box will be picked up on Friday, Dec. 19.

Crewnecks are available for purchase through the RAP Facilitator for $65, and they accept debit and Visa. 

Please have your order in by Dec.12. Crewnecks will be delivered the last week before Christmas break.
