Most widely known as Mother Teresa, she founded the Missionaries of Charity in 1950, serving the poorest of the poor in Calcutta, India. She received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and was canonized by Pope Francis on September 4, 2016.
In June 2021, the federal government passed legislation to make September 30 a federal statutory holiday called the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
This day will be observed in Saskatchewan, but it is not yet a statutory holiday in Saskatchewan for employees who are not federally regulated.
