Called and Chosen: Opening Day Celebration Photo Gallery

Bishop Michael Smolinski celebrating Mass

Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools' staff from across the division (about 2,900 of us) gathered at the Cathedral of the Holy Family August 31 for the annual opening Mass and celebration under the theme Called and Chosen.

Before the celebration began, co-emcee and Coordinator of Religious Education Darcie Lich took a moment to honour and pray for Kim Cody, a teacher who suddenly passed away just days before the start of the school year.

Fr. Kevin McGee of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon and Bishop Michael Smolinski of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Saskatoon, along with other clergy from the diocese and eparchy, celebrated Mass to start the day.

After a short refreshment break, Board of Education Chair Diane Boyko, Director of Education François Rivard, and GSCS Foundation Board Chair Laurie Karwacki gave brief addresses.

Guest speaker David Wells gave an inspiration talk about being joyful and authentic disciples for the students, families and colleagues we encounter each day.
