March 29th 2021
Dear parents and caregivers;
As a follow up to our division letter in February concerning high school graduation, we wanted to provide you with more details regarding this important event.
We previously communicated that given the current Government of Saskatchewan guidelines and the difficulty to predict the state of the pandemic in the next coming months, Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools is planning for virtual graduations this June.
We hope that future SHA protocols for gatherings will allow us to have a limited number of guests witness a part of the filming for the virtual cap and gown ceremony. If permitted, a limited number of guests will be invited to the presentation of their child's certificate. More details regarding the schedule, protocols and the number of attendees will be shared closer to the date. This will take place at the school the week of June 7-11th and will be completed in small cohorts of students determined by the school. Please note, time in the school and time in the filming area will be extremely limited and not include other parts of the ceremony. Students will receive their cap and gown before/after this event to take photos and celebrate with family members. Students will not require other formalwear, such as a gown or suit/tuxedo for the ceremony.
The virtual graduation video will be made available for viewing on June 24, 2021
This is not the way any us envisioned capping off a 13-year journey. We hope the opportunities to celebrate that we are offering graduates and families will provide a sense of joy and jubilation to the occasion.
