What are expectations of a casual employee?

We ask that our casual employees are available to work a minimum of two (2) days per week. Casuals are expected to maintain their schedule of available working days using Aesop, which is our Substitute Placement Management System.

We hire casual caretakers, educational assistants, secretaries, library technicians, as well as casual positions within our Information Technology Department.

When do you hire?

We accept teacher applications throughout the year, but the staffing process for the upcoming school year begins in February. Substitute teaching applications are accepted year round.

We hire casuals within the support and service groups throughout the year.

I don't have a completed Educational Assistant Certificiate, can I still apply to be a casual EA?

Yes! We seek applicants with post-secondary training in a related field, which is not limited to EA-specific training. We also look for applicants with related experience, strong inter-personal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

What makes GSCS an employer of choice?

Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools is a fantastic place to work. In addition to competitive salaries and benefits, we offer leadership development programming, a strong focus on employee wellness, including our generous Employee Family Assistance Program, as well as a culture of community that is rooted in faith!

I'm not Catholic. Should I still apply?

As a Catholic school division, we will always give preference to Catholic candidates. However, we give consideration to non-Catholic candidates in a variety of specialty areas. We also recognize the need to build a representative workforce that reflects the community we serve; competencies in other languages, cultures, and traditions are qualities we appreciate in applicants.
