Over 450 Special Olympic athletes competed in a day-long track and field meet on Friday, May 27 at E.D. Feehan Catholic High School in Saskatoon. This was the only Special Olympic qualifying track meet in the province

E.D. Feehan has been the proud host to this event for over 40 years. The staff and entire student body—more than 500 people—run the event. This involves officiating, timing races, record-keeping, and escorting athletes. This year was the largest number of athletes Feehan has ever hosted.

Athletes from ages five to 75 competed in a variety of events including ball throw, shot put, 50-metre and 100-metre dashes, and long jump.

The Special Olympics provides people with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to realize their potential, develop their physical fitness, demonstrate courage, and experience friendship through athletic participation.
