As we move through this Advent season toward Christmas, we recognize that it looks very different from other years as we are not able to gather together face to face. Teachers and staff have been very creative finding ways to share the joy of Advent and the important Christmas message, and for that we’re very thankful. But still, like many things this year, it’s not the same.
To help share the Christmas spirit, our school division put together a virtual Christmas card for families. In addition to messages from Board of Education Chair Diane Boyko and Director of Education Greg Chatlain, we are pleased to bring you some music from three Saskatchewan artists.
- Graham Dyck:
Originally from Delisle, Graham is a singer-songwriter who performs in a style evocative of Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. Often referred to as “Central Canada’s Crooner”, Graham is a former Educational Assistant with GSCS.
- Theresa Sokykra:
Theresa is well-recognized after appearing in the TV series Canadian Idol where she was first runner-up in 2004. A Juno-nominated singer-songwriter, Theresa is an alumna of the St. Maria Goretti Ukrainian Bilingual Program and Holy Cross High School.
- Brad Johner and the Johner Boys:
An award-winning Canadian country music singer-songwriter, Brad performed as a member of the Johner Brothers until 2002, and as a solo artist since then. Now Brad also performs often with his sons, the Johner Boys, who are former students of École St. Matthew and Holy Cross High School.
Special thanks to the GSCS Foundation for graciously sponsoring the cost of this event!
Have a blessed Christmas and a happy New Year!
