Teachers and students are shifting to online learning for a day as in-person classes for all students with Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools (GSCS) and Saskatoon Public Schools (SPS) are cancelled for Tuesday, November 10, 2020. This includes GSCS schools in Warman and Martensville.
Clean-up from the winter storm that hit the city and surrounding area over the weekend continues, but potentially unsafe road conditions still exist as crews methodically work their way through priority streets.
This decision was made collaboratively and in discussion with the City of Saskatoon and our partners in emergency services. Challenges have been identified for safely operating school and transit buses. Cancelling in-person classes helps ensure the safety of students and staff members, while supporting the city's efforts to clear streets.
While all in-person classes are cancelled, teachers will be providing direction and assignments for their students for at-home learning. Students and parents should check their email and/or online learning platform for instructions.
Classes will run as scheduled for all students who attend GSCS Cyber School and the SPS Online Learning Centre.
In-person classes will resume Thursday, November 12; November 11 is the Remembrance Day statutory holiday.
